The Icebreaker at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park marked the thawing of a cold streak for NASCAR Whelen Modified racer Rowan Pennink. Pennink put “Ole Blue” into Victory Circle for the first time in a points-paying event since 2009.
As one of Sunday’s headlining events at the Icebreaker, Pennink soared away from Bobby Santos on a restart with three laps remaining. The win was Pennink’s first since 2013 also at Thompson. That race did not award points. Santos surrendered Second and Third to Timmy Solomito and Max Zachem to finish Fourth. Patrick Emerling rounded out the Top Five.
The visiting PASS Super Late Models were also on the docket. The race paid points to both the PASS North and National Championships. Eddie MacDonald topped the 75-lap feature. Eddie Fatscher, DJ Shaw, Derek Ramstrom, and Derek Griffith rounded out the Top Five.
Other winners included: Ryan Preece (Sunoco Modifieds), Ray Parent (Late Models), Jesse Gleason (Limited Sportsman), Dave Trudeau (Mini Stock), and Brett Gonyaw (Lite Modified).
